"Nature is a place of healing for me," writes photographer George Sayre. “I have learned to slow down and be single pointed with my attention there. If viewers of my images can lose themselves for a moment and catch a small piece of that healing, then the image has worked its magic.”
George Sayre’s photographic galleries reflect his belief in “capturing images as they are” in the moment. He does not alter a scene either physically, with filters or other methods. What a viewer sees in his photographs is what George saw when he captured each image. The photo featured here is just one of many images of landscapes and plants available throughout George’s galleries, each—like this one--with its own unique story:
"While walking the beach in Big Sur, California, one spring late afternoon, I happened upon a small stream emptying into the Pacific Ocean. I set off up the streambed to explore. Very soon I came upon a profusion of calla lilies growing wild along the banks. The scene was magical. The sounds of the stream gurgling over rocks, lush green lily leaves rippling in the salt air breeze, and the sprinkling of lily blossoms with bright yellow stamens all overcame me. As I sat down, time slowed to a standstill. Before long, I was lost in the moment, trying to catch the fleeting image of a lily blossom just beginning to open, floating in a sea of green leaves."
Today George Sayre’s love of photography, which began in his father’s homemade darkroom, has grown from a passionate hobby to a vision of service. George contributes all profits from the sale of his images and photographic products through this web site to the Wings of Angels Foundation. Wings of Angels is a non-profit organization aiding orphans in the Mexican border town of Agua Prieta.
Thank you for visiting these galleries. May these images remind you of some of your own magic moments.
“We have only this moment, sparkling like a star in our hand...melting like a snowflake.”
